Article: SBRP

Dowex™ SBRP is a strong base, gel-type anion exchange resin designed by Dow® Chemical Corporation (USA) for application in commercial systems of water demineralization, nitrates and heavy metals content reduction.

The resin’s high capacity provides excellent kinetic behavior. It exhibits good physical, chemical and thermal stability.

Key advantages:

  • excellent kinetic properties provide high regeneration efficiency

  • porous beads make the resin resistant to organic contaminants

  • quick establishment of ion exchange equilibrium

  • a high efficiency of heavy metals removal, as well as restoration of noble metals

  • stable effective operation for more than 5 years

  • Maximum operating temperature: 100 °C

  • pH range: 0...14

  • Bed depth, min.: 800 mm

  • Flow rates:

    • Service/fast rinse: 5...50 m/h

  • Regenerant: 4...8% HCl

  • Salt consumption for regeneration: 100...150 g/L

During the filtration through anion exchange resin unwanted ions are replaced with Cl- ions, content of nitrates, sulfates, phosphates decreases, resulting in a reduction of total content of salts in the water.

As the water passes through the anion resin, number of Cl- ions able to perform the exchange decreases, and a number of unwanted anions retained on the resin increases, so the anion resin is being exhausted. That is why it should be regenerated by passing the solution of sodium chloride through the layer of anion resin so that the exchange capacity of the resin is restored.
